An improved psychoacoustic annoyance model based on tonal noises
نویسنده
چکیده
According to 4 acoustical parameters of noise samples, Zwicker’s psychoacoustic annoyance model can be used to estimate the relative degree of noise annoyance. However, this model cannot be well applied to compare the annoyance degrees of tonal noises and atonal noises. In order to improve its estimation effect on tonal noises, laboratory subjective evaluation tests were conducted on 3 sample groups respectively via an 11-point numerical scale. The Zwicker’s psychoacoustic annoyance model was improved by taking tonality into account, and introducing the evaluation result of the first noise sample group (1000 kV transformer noise samples) to determine the coefficients in the model. The applicability of the improved model was examined by the evaluation results of the other two groups as well as the data in a previous research on annoyance of 220 kV / 500 kV transformer noises. Results show that the improved model can estimate the relative annoyance degrees caused by various types of tonal / atonal noises much more accurately.

Annoyance response to low frequency noise with tonal components: A case study on transformer noise
In order to study how acoustical factors influence annoyance responses to low frequency noise with tonal components, this research has selected 220 kV and 500 kV transformer noises as examples and an 11point numerical scale as an evaluation tool, in which the percentage of highly annoyed (%HA) and mean annoyance (MA) are chosen to represent annoyance caused by noises. Results show that a logist...

Introduction: Sound as a detrimental factor in working environments can create annoying conditions for people in addition to physical problems. Therefore, in addition to evaluating quantitative parameters such as pressure levels, it is absolutely necessary to study the quality parameters of the sound in the work environment. Material & Methods: In this descriptive-analytic research, the sound ...
متن کاملProgress in calculating tonality of technical sounds
Noises with tonal components, howling sounds, and modulated signals are often the cause of customer complaints when emitted from technical products. The perception and evaluation of sound events containing such components has become increasingly important, e.g., in the field of vehicle acoustics for the assessment of tonality due to alternative drives. Furthermore, Information Technology (IT) d...
متن کاملEffects of active noise control on subjective annoyance and cortical neural activities for car engine noise
It is thought that active noise control (ANC) is able to control not only loudness but also auditory impression; however, few studies have focused on changes in the auditory impressions of noises through ANC. Some previous studies have reported significant correlations between subjective preference/annoyance of sounds and synchrony of the alpha activity, e. In this study, auditory impressions ...
متن کاملPsychoacoustic evaluation of noises produced by propellers with asymmetrical blade spacing
Instrumental evaluations (e.g. Dobrzynski, InterNoise 90) showed that propeller noise can be reduced by asymmetrical blade spacing. Compared to conventional propellers with 6 blades and symmetrical spacing of 60°, propellers with asymmetric spacing of 15° produce about 3 dB(A) less level, in particular for high helical blade tip Mach numbers HBTMN. Since the aerodynamic propeller performance is...
